The demand for construction lawyers has decreased this month as some major matters have settled, while the demand for employment and family lawyers remains steady. The strongest demand continues for corporate/commercial and property lawyers at all levels, however there are significant talent shortages at the associate and senior associate levels.
As baby boomers are reaching retirement age, more and more small law firms are considering succession planning and selling their firm. Interestingly, we are seeing the younger generation of lawyers interested in purchasing small established law firms. We are finding younger lawyers are less interested in the traditional law firm model and are seeking alternative options to practicing law, as they are looking for flexibility, freedom and reward for their work.
